This book has changed my life in just a few short weeks, I really wish I would've found out about it earlier. I feel so completely liberated! the techniques in the book have really changed my perspective on life, I feel like a hopeful person! I'm able to identify situations that create tension and can then take steps to squash the irritability. The only suggestion I would make to the heartmath creators is to have a quick guide card that you could carry around to have when needed, better yet, an app. I am experiencing more self compassion than I have felt EVER, which only fuels the impetus to keep up with the program. I do the Heart Lock-in method as I fall asleep, as I do this I imagine hugging my heart and focus on its purring, warm, vibrating energy. I wake up refreshed and with a positive attitude to start the day. The super interesting part is that my husband, who is very high strung, seems to be reaping some of the benefits as well (without even practicing it himself), he seems to be just gliding through difficult work situations that would normally get his man panties in a bunch.
I would not have believed this, anything that's supposedly going to help so many ways usually just helps the seller make money. But I found a lot of documentation for what this man says.I can't begin to give enough information about the benefits of these books and the emawave 2, the model I have.I can watch my heart beat, like an EEG, on my computer screen. It shows the degree of coherence between the heart and the brain. It's similar to biofeedback, but much more. The more compliance, the better then brain functions. The best analogy is a 3 legged race. If you work in synchronization, you can do it. If not, you'll never be your best.I can take the little gadget with me anywhere. I just put my thumb on it. The color of the light lets me know my level of coherence.There are many activities that are fun, as well as the basic monitors. It will keep records on your computer, if you use the computer program.Don't freak about the price. Watch for used ones. My emwave 2 is perfect and was less than $100 (on Amazon). Couldn’t read it. The print is tiny, tiny, tiny. Why? Beware, if this is an issue for you. Not sure if they are trying to save paper or what. I read a lot of books and this print is ridiculous.
After reading this book I realize my perspective on stress issues has changed.I now evaluate most situation as energy gain or deficit. Whenever I recognize a situation that creates deficit, I try to minimize its negative impact. On the other hand I also cultivate situations, feelings that create an energy gain.This alone is worth the price of the book and more: I now have a rational view on stress and can take action, with methods proposed in this book or any other method that I can integrate in the plan.But solutions proposed in this book go further: not only it teaches you to recognize stress, but it also teaches you to TRANSFORM it. This is, to replace an energy deficit, with an energy GAIN. You are not moving from negative to neutral, but from negative to positive (not traditional positive thinking, but positive feelings and emotions, and thus triggering physiological regeneration). This is the breakthrough of the methods in this book.Unfortunately, I find the tools very hard to apply. Basically you are asked to generate genuine positive feelings (appreciation, care, love....) whenever a stress event occurs, or whenever you want to regenerate yourself. Problem is it seems I can't just trigger at will an authentic feeling such as care, love, compassion or appreciation. This is the main problem for me. Maybe I will be able to with more practice ? Anyway it's worth trying.
This book is wonderful. A step by step book about relieving stress and igniting the intelligence of the heart which has now been proven to be a second brain! For anyone in psychotherapy and for anyone not in psychotherapy, I encourage you to get this book. Your life will change for the better.
I had heard of HeartMath but it was good to get the full picture. This is a book that I would read again slowly to make sure I understood all the principles. I like that the concept is based on research that is verifiable. Focusing on one's heart and breathing through it seems a bit vague but I believe it is a method that has merit and can produce beneficial physical and emotional results. It would be good to follow up with some individual help and bio-feedback to make sure all is in order. Not something I can do right now but nice to know its available.
I found this book to be very informative and thought provoking, I learned a lot about the power that lies within us to make our lives better. I have started practicing some of the techniques outlined in the book and already feel a difference. I know it takes time but the information in this book will shift your thoughts and help you realize that you can change your life. by changing your thoughts.
